Јавно представљање Предлога о успостављању Стратешког дијалога Србије и САД

What seemed impossible a year ago has now become reality. The goal of the Pupin Initiative is to highlight everything that Serbia is doing to strategically position itself towards the West, and the Pupin initiative aims to be the bearer of positive change in that direction.

The Executive Director of the Pupin Initiative, Vuk Velebit, and the lead researcher on the project, Assistant Professor Dr. Milan Krstić from the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade, presented the Proposal for Strategic Dialogue between Serbia and the United States on October 8th at the Media Center in Belgrade. The conference was attended by journalists, members of the Pupin Initiative, fellows of the fellowship program, and it was open to the wider public.

The presented Proposal for Strategic Dialogue between Serbia and the United States was drafted by the Pupin Initiative's research team, which included experts in Serbian-American relations, fellows of the fellowship program, and members of the Pupin Initiative. The document contains an analysis and a series of concrete proposals for changes, as well as methods to implement them in order to establish the dialogue. It covers various areas, such as security, trade, education, and culture. The long-term goal is for Serbia to form a strategic partnership with the US, similar to the one it has with China.

In preparing the analysis, the research team examined the benefits both sides could gain from the strategic dialogue, the risks and opportunities, and how to manage them. Finally, everything was tested through discussions with experts in the field, relevant think tanks, members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the State Department, the academic and business community, the Serbian diaspora in the US, and members and associates of the Pupin Initiative.

By following these proposals, Serbia will improve its international position while maintaining its military neutrality and adhering to the four-pillar policy.

The proposal was also presented in Washington at the recently held Pupin Forum, during which it was handed to Alexander Kasanof, the new State Department envoy for the Western Balkans.
